Red Bull has confirmed Ford will return to F1 as an engine supplier in 2026.
The American automaker will collaborate with Red Bull Ford Powertrains and will supply powertrains to Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri from 2026 to 2030. The parties will immediately begin joint development of a new power plant. Ford engineers are expected to contribute to the internal combustion engine, batteries, electric motors and software.
Christian Horner, Head of Red Bull Racing: “As an independent powertrain manufacturer, working with a major company like Ford gives us a good opportunity to compete.
Ford has a rich history in powertrain manufacturing, with racers ranging from Jim Clark to Ayrton Senna to Michael Schumacher racing their engines. For Red Bull Powertrains, the start of a new chapter as Red Bull Ford is extremely exciting.
There is still a lot of time until 2026, but for us the work has already begun. We always look to the future and continue to develop Red Bull Racing.”
