Horner: Carmaker interest in F1 is great news

Since the partnership between Red Bull Racing and Ford and the return of the American company to Formula 1 in 2026 has already been officially confirmed, it is theoretically possible that two overseas car giants will compete on racetracks in the future. This will happen if the Andretti Cadillac project gets the green light and another American team enters the World Championship.

The likelihood of such event development has increased following the recent official announcement by the federation about the launch of the procedure for accepting applications from new teams to compete in Formula 1.

Addressing the press at the presentation of the 2023 car yesterday, Christian Horner made it clear that Ford’s return to the World Championship will not affect Andretti Autosport’s plans in any way.

“We are delighted that Ford is joining us as we become Red Bull Ford and our engines will be branded from 2026,” said the Milton Keynes team leader. “This is great news for us, and it’s also great news that other car manufacturers are also showing great interest in Formula 1.

Of course, General Motors is one of America’s largest automakers. All this just confirms that Formula 1 is now in a very strong position. Of course there are still discussions about the arrival of new teams in 2026, and they have to meet certain criteria, but that doesn’t change anything for us.
