Bobrova explained how Mazepin’s charitable foundation helps suspended athletes

2014 Olympic champion in figure skating in team competition Ekaterina Bobrova told the correspondent how the former Formula 1 driver’s charity fund Nikita Mazepin helps athletes suspended for unsportsmanlike reasons.

Mazepin announced the creation of a charitable foundation to help suspended athletes in March 2022.

– It is clear that I have many projects related to figure skating. It is also my figure skating school named after Ekaterina Bobrova. Moreover, it is impossible not to mention the Skating Podcast, which we host and develop.

I have many projects. But I want to clarify that I am a member of the Council of Champions of the Nikita Mazepin Charitable Foundation. We act as a foundation that supports athletes suspended from competitions for non-sporting reasons. I think this is very important, because people from an early age are dedicated to sports, training takes place 24/7 … We have one goal – to get to the Olympics, win them, then everything ends abruptly not for our reason, but for some and then for others … The athlete is thrown to the ground, like a fish out of water, and has no idea what he should do next, and after all, the plans were grandiose precisely in his sports career.

And the fund greatly helps athletes adapt. The Foundation helps with psychological support, education, job search as well. I believe that is correct. Therefore, I take part in everything with great pleasure,” Bobrova told .

Earlier, the IOC published an updated position regarding the admission of Russian athletes to participate in international competitions, in which it noted that it would consider the possibility of admitting to international departures in a neutral status Russian athletes and Belarusians who did not actively support the OSV. In most sports, against the background of the situation in Ukraine, Russian athletes were deprived of the opportunity to participate in international tournaments.
