Williams reveals FW45 livery and new partners

Williams showed off the livery of the FW45 car and introduced new team partners, including US company Gulf Oil, known for its longstanding ties to the motorsport world.

According to the team’s press release, the styling of the 2023 car is an evolution of a concept known from last season, and the overall color scheme remains the same, but the bold Gulf Oil logo is clearly visible on the rear fender endplate.

The first run-in of the FW45 is scheduled for February 13. Unlike the predecessor model, the new machine has been upgraded in line with the 2023 technical regulations, but there are also a number of other changes related to improved powertrain integration with the chassis and cooling system layout. The front suspension and a number of aerodynamic elements have also been improved, which made it possible to achieve more downforce and improved driving characteristics.

The team’s transformation process continues and the partnership with Gulf Oil is another important step in this journey that will strengthen Williams’ economy. The team and its owners, the Dorilton Capital fund, were able to attract new serious sponsors, and this is not only Gulf, but also the independent financial company Stephens, which will become the official investment and banking partner of Williams, as well as the famous beer brand Michelob ULTRA, owned by Anheuser-Busch Inc., a large Missouri brewery.

Another new Williams partner is PureStream, an online trading company.

In 2023, the team’s roster has been updated: Logan Sargent, an American Formula 1 debutant trained at the Williams Racing Academy, has partnered Alex Albon and is now preparing for the first Grand Prix of his career, which will be the championship round in Bahrain.

The first run-in of the FW45 will take place at Silverstone, with both drivers testing the new car en route. Jenson Button, 2009 World Champion and Williams Racing brand ambassador, will also oversee the run-in.
