Logan Sargent is confident he is ready for his Formula 1 debut with Williams and is optimistic about the preparation for the season. The 22-year-old American racer, along with Alex Albon, his partner, took part in the presentation of the new FW45 car, although it would be more accurate to say the new Williams war paint, as the real car will not be ready until the first run-in, which will take place at Silverstone on February 13.
Logan Sargent: “I’m doing everything I can to prepare for the season as best I can. You see, it almost seems like I’ve overdone it – we’ve been working so hard off the track. But now it’s time to get behind to crawl into the wheel and apply everything I’ve learned.
I’m looking forward to getting started in Bahrain and I feel like the low season is already over. Testing in Abu Dhabi after the end of last season gave me a good chance to test myself. Everything went well, I understood what to add. This enabled us to lay a good foundation for work in the low season.
At first I rested a little, although even then I continued to train in the gym, because driving these cars is physically much more difficult than the ones I was used to. First of all, it was necessary to improve physical fitness, and then I began to work intensively on the simulator.
It was necessary to find the right approach to things and I tried not to miss anything, so now it seems to me that we are well prepared for the season. So far I have not set any specific tasks for myself, because I am just very happy that I have been given the opportunity to participate in Formula 1.
I have no doubt that as the start of the season approaches the pressure will increase, but as long as I am fully focused on the preparation, on working on the simulator, so that the moment I get behind the wheel of a real car for the first time I will be in the best shape possible.
