The FIA unexpectedly announced the resignation from his post of Peter Bayer – Secretary General of the Federation and Executive Director of Formula 1 – he was given a second appointment quite recently, in December last year.
“The FIA would like to thank Peter for his contributions to motorsport over the past five years. He led the creation of a pyramid of racing series from karting to Formula 1, the new World Rally Raid Championship, improving safety in all disciplines. The FIA wishes him all the best for the future.”
Bayer will be temporarily replaced by the return of the FIA, Shyla-Anne Rao, who served as FIA Director of Legal Affairs from mid-2016 to late 2018. For the past three and a half years she was General Counsel to Mercedes Grand Prix Limited and then Special Counsel to team leader Toto Wolff.
