If Formula 1 had opponents in Miami, there was unanimous support in Las Vegas. After a unanimous vote from the Clark County Commission, Formula 1 extended the contract until 2032, but many hope it will be permanent.
Also confirmed is the lifting of time restrictions related to holding “special Formula 1 Grand Prix events in Las Vegas every Wednesday through Sunday, the week before Thanksgiving in November from 2023 to 2032.”
The promoter of the Grand Prix will be the Las Vegas Grand Prix created by Formula 1, the work is ongoing and should be completed on time. The organizers assure that the Las Vegas Grand Prix will not be a “parking lot race” as it was in the 1980s.
James B. Gibson, Chairman of the Commission: “We have a three-year contract with Formula 1, but we expect to spend at least 10 years on it. And I am sure those who come to replace us will see the value of this event and stick to it forever.”
The event organizers claim that the race will raise $1.282 billion in its first year, of which $966 million will be spent by the spectators.
