Last year, first-time Chinese Formula 1 driver Guanyu Zhou spent his first season with Alfa Romeo, earning three points. Now the 23-year-old pilot thinks he will start his second season with even more confidence…
Guanyu Zhou: “Last year, at the beginning of the season, I was very nervous and tense – that’s obvious. That is always the case in the debut season. But now I feel a lot more understanding with the team, I understand how Formula 1 cars work.
I will go into the first run in Barcelona with a lot more confidence and then on to testing in Bahrain. Now I feel more comfortable and have a much better idea of what to expect.
In fact, the debut season went well, making my debut with Alfa Romeo is a great honor for me. We have been able to achieve a lot without avoiding ups and downs, but I am very happy with what we have achieved together. We need to keep working hard, take another step forward – and I’m sure we can handle this!
