The Andretti Cadillac project has generated a lot of news, but has not really materialized yet. Haas F1 boss Gunther Steiner sees no point in a new team…
Gunther Steiner: “Five years ago, a Formula 1 team could be bought for next to nothing. Nobody needed them, they went bankrupt, but nobody bought anybody. And now everyone is suddenly talking about a new team.
Ten teams that are already in Formula 1 are financially stable and working. Everything is arranged perfectly, those ten teams that already exist – they are in perfect order. Now in Formula 1 everything is fine. Business is moving forward. Everything is great! There are no difficulties!
But when you add an 11th team, these complications arise. We will all receive smaller payments, some teams will have to fight to survive – well, if everything works now. Why take the risk if there is no benefit?
I don’t understand what the 11th team will give us? It is not for me to decide, but for FOM, since all business processes in Formula 1 depend on them – on FOM and FIA. But all teams will not benefit from the arrival of the 11th team. Only risks.
