Nick Heidfeld makes an electric series for juniors

Nick Heidfeld, along with Dilbag Gill, former team principal of Mahindra Racing, was involved in the creation of a new electric series for juniors, and the presentation of this project took place in Hyderabad during the Formula E race weekend.

Nick once raced for this Indian team and is still the reserve driver, but now he becomes an advisor for the new junior championship, which is called the ACE championship. The debut season is scheduled for 2024.

The series will be divided into two levels of competition depending on the level of training of the drivers, and the same cars will be used in both cases, but for beginners they will be adapted to a lower power level. It is believed that the ACE Championship will become a kind of environment where not only talented racers will emerge, but also qualified engineers who can work in other series in the future.

Judging by the first images, the car of the future series is very similar to the electric Formula E cars of the second generation, more precisely the experimental version of the Gen2 Evo, which was not used in the races. The organizers of ACE see their task this way: their vehicles must approach in terms of speed capabilities the racing electric cars that were used in Formula E until last season.

The makers promise to announce the calendar of the future series later.
