Stefano Domenicali criticized Michael Andretti’s approach to draw attention to his Andretti Global project, which aims to organize an 11th Formula 1 team.
According to the president and general manager of the World Cup, Andretti’s comments in support of his efforts are not thought through and only incite existing teams against this project, making it difficult to make a successful application.
“I think the process of considering such an application is organized seriously and correctly. If the project contains all the necessary components, it can only be applauded, but at the same time it is necessary to take into account many different dimensions,” Domenicali told Sky Sports. – We are not obliged to react too actively if someone starts to put pressure on us.
I believe it is now more important to maintain the pace of development of our sport and create conditions for the implementation of environmental programs by the teams, because the championship participants have invested a lot of money in Formula 1 at a time when things were different . The value of these investments is very different in commercial terms by today’s standards than it was a few years ago.
No one can pressure us to make the right decision just because someone is shouting the loudest. We must treat everyone with respect. But there are groups of people like Mario and Michael Andretti who want to get into F1 and say it out loud, but to say that championship teams are just greedy and protecting their interests is not a very smart tactic. It’s my personal opinion.
There are other people who are quieter and also want to get into Formula 1 – in general there is a certain process, this has to be understood and together with the FIA we have to make sure that this process is respected.
The FIA has already announced that it is open to applications from new teams seeking to enter Formula 1 in 2025-2027, and the federation’s president, Mohammed bin Sulayem, has repeatedly spoken out in favor of the Andretti Cadillac project .
