Leo Turini: Binotto has already received an offer from Audi

Presenting the new Ferrari car today, Frederic Vasseur, who took over as head of the Scuderia a little over a month ago, emphasized that his contribution to the creation of the SF-23 was more than modest, but he is proud of it work done by the team. Mattia Binotto’s name did not sound at the same time, but everyone understands that what Vasser said fully applied to him.

Under Binotto’s leadership, last year’s F1-75 was created, which allowed the Ferrari drivers to win 11 poles, but was unfortunately not very reliable. At the end of last year he was also directly involved in the development of the SF-23, and specialists of this level are always in demand in Formula 1.

According to the Italian press, to which we referred at the time, Binotto will be on “sabbatical leave” during the year, which is literally called “gardening leave” in motorsport jargon. Ferrari paid him an extra fee so that he would not work for another Formula 1 team, the FIA or Liberty Media for the next 12 months.

But the highly respected Italian journalist Leo Turini, who took part in the Pit Talk podcast, stated categorically: “I am sure Binotto can stay in Formula 1 after his period of taking care of the garden is over. I am absolutely convinced that he has already received an offer from Audi to lead a team that will start the World Cup in the not too distant future.”

The factory Audi team will enter Formula 1 in 2026 and the formation process based on the merger with Sauber Motorsport has already begun – changes in the ownership structure of the Swiss company are already underway. Behind the scenes of these events, German supervisors are already hard at work creating a power plant that meets the requirements of the technical regulations, which will come into effect in less than three years, and the experience of a qualified engineer like Binotto will be used. very useful for them.

In the meantime, Sauber Group is led by Andreas Seidl and Alessandro Alunni Bravi acts as team representative.
