At the Ferrari presentation in Fiorano, Charles Leclerc was the first to drive the new SF-23 car after two laps. After that, the vice world champion of the past season shared his impressions about the novelty.
Charles Leclerc: “I worked a lot on the simulator and now I’m happy to have driven the first laps in a real car – the impressions are pleasant. Everything went smoothly, although after two laps it is difficult to talk about details, but I have already given the engineers the first feedback. The car ran smoothly – everything went well.”
Speaking about his goals for 2023 at the beginning of his presentation, Charles did not hesitate to say that his goal was to fight for the title: “I have prepared a lot for the new season. I trained in the Dolomites for two weeks, after which I returned to Maranello. I worked on a simulator, spent a day testing at Fiorano in a 2021 car – these tests were helpful to get in shape.
Now we are ready for the start of the season – the most exciting time has come. We have been working hard on a new project and now we want to see the results of this work – I can’t wait for the season to start. In 2022, after two difficult years, we took a step forward – the team took second place in the constructors’ championship, I became second in the individual standings.
The team worked hard on the 2023 project, trying to solve the problems of last year’s car. I hope the SF-23 is better. We have a clear goal: to win. The will to win motivates me and the whole team. I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel and trying to win the title.”
