After the presentation of the 2023 Mercedes W14 car, the team was introduced to the novelty at Silverstone. George Russell drove a few laps around the British track and shared his first impressions.
George Russell: So far so good. The break-in went smoothly and I was happy to get back behind the wheel and feel the car.
It’s a good day, but right now it’s hard to say where we stand against the rest. Last year, after the break-in, we didn’t have much understanding for it, because the weather made work on the track impossible. Today’s results should also be taken with a grain of salt as it was important to us to make sure there were no serious issues and to make sure the car was ready for shipment to Bahrain.
Full tests will begin next week. As much as we would like to understand everything as well as possible, on days like today that is simply impossible.
