We’ve already mentioned that the Aston Martin team tested the new AMR23 car at Silverstone on Wednesday as part of a filming day. Both drivers got to work behind the wheel – Lance Stroll on rain tires in the morning, and in the late afternoon, when the weather cleared, he was replaced by Fernando Alonso. The Canadian and Spanish driver completed 17 and 16 laps respectively before sharing their impressions.
Lance walk: “The first trip to the circuit behind the wheel of an AMR23 is a special moment. The car handled well and all systems worked as expected – there were no problems, which is very important before sending to Bahrain.
We know there is still a lot to learn about the car at the start of the season, but we got off to a good start this morning and I enjoyed getting back behind the wheel. There is nothing better than stepping with your right foot into the cockpit of a new Formula 1 car after the winter break!”
Fernando Alonso: “Hello – I enjoyed flying the AMR23 for the first time. It’s great to be back on track and feel the speed of the Formula 1 car after a break.
Today during the shooting day we did a lot – everything went according to plan. Now we have to wait for next week’s testing, when we will get to know the car better and understand our form against rivals after the winter break.
Each driver only has a day and a half to pick up speed and prepare for the Bahrain round, so you need to make the most of your time behind the wheel.”
