Formula 2 testing continues at Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. As on the eve, the youth series drivers shared the circuit with their F3 colleagues after two sessions of two and a half hours each.
In the morning, the teams worked hard tyres, with an emphasis on long-distance work. The best time was set by Prema rider Frederic Vesti – 1:44.234 seconds. The riders worked according to their schedule, but had to take a short break an hour after the start of the races. The reason was the red flags due to a break in the sixth corner by Roman Stanek.
After the Trident car was removed, testing continued. Eighteen pilots completed more than thirty laps, and Kush Maini completed the maximum distance with 50 laps in possession of the Campos rider.
Speeds picked up in the afternoon session, but track work was interrupted twice by red flags. In the first hour, Theo Purscher stopped on track and nine minutes before the end of the races, Clement Novalak braked.
The fastest time, 1:42.140, was recorded by Richard Fershor, with a lead of 0.008 seconds over Victor Marten. Van Amersfoort Racing’s result was the best of the day. Juan Manuel Correa drove the longest distance with 34 laps.
Bahrain will host the last day of Formula 2 testing on Thursday.
