Gabriel Bortoleto took the lead on the final day of Formula 3’s pre-season testing in Bahrain. Unlike the previous two days, the riders had one four-hour session at their disposal on Thursday to work on the track.
Racers started the day with fast laps. Rafael Villagomez was the first to set the best time, but Gregoire Sosi soon surpassed his result with a result of 1:47.610 seconds. Bortoleto was next in the lead with a time of 1:47.417 seconds.
It turned out that until the end of the day no one could beat this result, although Gabriele Mini was close to the Trident driver, but he missed 0.035 hundredths.
After a series of fast laps, the riders focused on working on the long distance, a simulated race. Five minutes before the end of the tests, red flags appeared on the track due to Sofia Flörsch’s stop. The marshals quickly removed the German pilot’s car and the session resumed, but as there were only two minutes left until the end, no one returned to the track.
The longest distance was driven by Chao Collet – 61 laps. Nikita Bedrin completed 51 laps and was 17th in the protocol.
Formula 3 pre-season testing is over. The riders will next take to the track in the first stage of the season, which will be held in Bahrain from March 3-5.
