Lewis Hamilton I feel comfortable in the new car

On Thursday, the Mercedes team spent a day filming at Silverstone. The 2023 W14 car drove George Russell and Lewis Hamilton for a total of 100 kilometers and formed the first impression of the new car. Both riders gave positive feedback on the W14.

George Russell: “Great to bring W14 to the track. The weather was cold and wet, but the car ran smoothly and we did as many laps as we were allowed.

The team knows that the first full tests will begin during pre-season testing in Bahrain. On the track, however, the car looked great – so far so good.”

Lewis Hamilton: “It’s great to take to the track with a W14. The first trip is always a special moment for everyone at the base, because our employees have worked hard for this. I am very grateful to everyone for their efforts.

The day went smoothly. We worked out the program and drew some useful conclusions. Overall I am comfortable in the car and looking forward to a trip to Bahrain.”

Andrew Schovlin, Chief Race Engineer: “Good start with the W14. The weather wasn’t the best for filming and running, but we completed the legal 100km without any problems and both drivers got their first impression of the car.

Conditions in Bahrain will be very different to cold and wet Silverstone, but it looks like we are doing well. Hopefully next week we will get the most out of three days of testing.”
