Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi said the company is ready to supply Renault power units to the Andretti Cadillac team if it wins the right to compete in Formula 1.
Laurent Rossi: “We have agreed that if they get a license to compete in Formula 1, we will supply them with power plants. But first, the organizers of this project must demonstrate that they can enter Formula 1 – go through all the selection stages and show that they will benefit Formula 1 and the teams in general.
Their job is to provide evidence, and the rest will evaluate them. If they come to Formula 1, we will be happy. If not, nothing happened.
We are under no obligation to supply our engines to anyone else, but this is a nice bonus as it allows us to collect power plant operation data from four cars, not two. On the other hand, engine delivery increases the load on the main team, so the right structure is important. Two years ago, for example, we did not have the possibility to supply engines to others.”
