Sauber Motorsport, which runs Alfa Romeo’s Formula 1 team, has announced its youth academy line-up for 2023. Theo Purscher, who has been a student since 2019 and will continue his Formula 2 career in 2023, was joined by Lena Buhler, Markus Amand and Thame Saleh.

In 2023, 25-year-old Swiss Lena Buhler will compete in the F1 Academy Women’s Series, 17-year-old French-Finn Markus Amand will spend the European Formula Regional season and young German Thame Saleh will continue his career in karting.

After last season, Brazilian Roberto Faria left the Academy.

Defeat Transmitter, Sporting Director of Sauber Motorsport: “Searching for and nurturing young talent has always been a central philosophy of Sauber Motorsport, as our goal is to develop the champions of tomorrow. The Sauber Academy line-up for 2023 is very promising and I look forward to working with each of the drivers.

We are proud of the development Theo has made since joining us and is now one of the official reserve drivers for our Formula 1 team.

We also welcome Lena, Markus and Thame. We will be by their side in their next career steps, providing them with the tools, education and resources they need to succeed in global motorsport. We can’t wait to get started and unleash their potential.”
