For Esteban Ocon, the coming season will be the fourth in the team from Enstone. The Alpine rider is optimistic about the first round in Bahrain and looks forward to working with new teammate Pierre Gasly.
Q: How was your physical and mental preparation for the season?
Esteban Ocon: I liked the preparation process in the low season – I can say that everything went well. With the 2022 season coming to an end in November, the off-season was longer than usual. This gave us more time to rest and, above all, to prepare for a long and long season.
I was able to try new types of workouts and sports activities, which helped to balance the preparation. I’m ready and looking forward to the start of the season!
Q: This year you have a new partner. What do you expect from Pierre Gasly?
Esteban Ocon: It’s great for the team and the whole Alpine brand that Pierre has joined us. We’ve known each other since we were kids, as we both grew up in Normandy. We have fulfilled a childhood dream – we are competing in Formula 1 and now we are also in the same team.
In the junior racing series, our careers have been built in different ways, but I am happy that Pierre has joined the Alpine family. I have no doubt that we will get along great. It’s great to have him as my partner. I know we are both looking forward to the start of the season and want to help the team achieve their goals.
Question: You have already tested the A523 in the simulator and on the track. What are your first impressions?
Esteban Ocon: The start of the year is always exciting because everyone in the team has high expectations. The new car opens up new opportunities and I want to get out on the track as soon as possible and give it my all to get good results for the team. That’s the plan with the A523.
Of course I can’t do anything at the moment – I have to wait for Bahrain. I have to say I’m already inspired by what I saw. At the start of every year, we don’t know what our opponents are capable of, so we have to stand firm and focus on what we can control.
We hope all the men and women in Weary and Enstone have something to be proud of after working hard on the car this winter. A big thank you to everyone who selflessly committed with full commitment.
