Alfa Romeo has not yet decided whether to leave or stay in F1

Alfa Romeo became Sauber’s title partner in 2018 and the Swiss team was officially named a year later, but this sponsorship contract is only valid until the end of 2023.

In the near future, Sauber will become a factory team of Audi, but Alfa Romeo values the results of the collaboration with it so highly that a scenario is not excluded that the Italian brand can remain in Formula 1.

Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato and Strategic Development Director Christiano Fiorio told RacingNews365. Both leaders are calmly facing the prospect of parting ways with Sauber upon completion of the sponsorship contract.

“That’s life. I must say right away that we are not confident that we will leave Formula 1 after this season, said Imparato. – We will not make this or that decision until the end of June. In the meantime, we are discussing the situation with a blank sheet of paper for us – in that our outlook has yet to be determined.

We are exploring all possible options to stay in motorsport. At the end of June, we want to let the world know what we can do. Given the nature of our business, we are very interested in our continued presence in motorsport, but we have to decide how we see it.

All options are open for 2024, although of course everyone understands that we live in a difficult world. A lot is happening, so we have to make the best decision.”
