Arrow McLaren SP has confirmed that Alexander Rossi will be the team’s new driver for 2023. She plans to start a third car next season and the 30-year-old American, who won the Indy 500 in 2016, will become the partner of Pato O’Ward. The name of the third rider has not yet been announced.
Rossi has achieved achievements and several wins in the GP2 series, working with Formula 1 teams such as Caterham, Marussia and Manor, and has been driving IndyCar for Andretti Autosport since 2016.
Alexander Rossi: “First of all I would like to thank everyone at Andretti Autosport for these seven incredible years. I had a great experience in a great team, it was a great honor for me to play for the team called Andretti. But it’s time to take on a new challenge and move on to a team that grows and evolves.
I am ready to contribute to the development of the Arrow McLaren SP and help it reach the top…”
Zach Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing said: “Alex has a track record in winning races and the Indy 500 and shares our passion for success. It is very important that we invite a talented racer, and our team will be able to fight for championship victory on a regular basis.
We’ve been eyeing him for some time and are delighted to have him join the Arrow McLaren SP.”
