Toto Wolff: We no longer have a build-up

Last year, the problem with the accumulation of cars discovered in tests at Mercedes was solved for several months, and they could not get rid of it completely. But today, after the morning session of the first day of testing in Bahrain, team principal Toto Wolff confirmed there was no more build-up.

Toto Wolff: “The new car has a good balance, there is no build-up, except maybe on a big bump at the end of the straight. We tried to collect as much information as possible, which is important for assessing the correlation of data – the beginning of the tests turned out to be productive.

When we arrived in Bahrain last year, we already knew we had problems. The car jumped, we couldn’t work with the settings. Now it’s a completely different matter – we have a good basis for further optimization of the machine, but so far we have not done this. Now we find out if there are any other issues that could prevent the machine from maximizing its potential. We’re just working on the program.

Is there any slip left? We saw a moment in turn 12 today, but that is nothing compared to the problems we had last year and it doesn’t limit us in any way.
