Valtteri Bottas: I’m not going to change my image

After the first day of testing, Valtteri Bottas stressed that so far everything is going well for him and for the whole Alfa Romeo team, much better than during this period a year ago.

Valtteri Bottas: “Today we did a good job on track and completed the whole program – this is very different from last year when we had a lot of problems. On the first day of testing, the most important thing is to put in the miles and get to know the new car’s features, find out which settings work and which don’t, get an idea of how the tires behave, etc.

There is, of course, enough work, and although there are still two days before the end of the tests, this is not so much. But a good start has been made, I already feel some improvement compared to last year.

The behavior of the rear of the car has certainly become more stable – last year it was our weakness, which became particularly evident in high-speed corners. But the balance still needs work, because in slow corners the front wheels often lock up, causing understeer. However, there are no tasks that we could not solve.”

Before the tests began, Valtteri presented a very original design of the helmet, which was designed as always by his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell: on the helmet are drawn in a somewhat caricature style a haircut and mustache, similar to the one Bottas has worn since late last year. Everything looks so funny that the Finn had to answer questions on this topic.

“I thought if you drew my portrait on the helmet it would be fun! – he said laughing. – I’m so proud of my new graphic that I’ve decided it should be featured on the helmet. I really like the new haircut, and for now I’m not going to change the image. I think it suits me very well.”
