Guanyu Zhou completed 67 laps in the morning session of the first day of testing in Bahrain, which was fourth fastest. The Alfa Romeo racer positively assessed the work done.
Guanyu Zhou: “Today went pretty smoothly. After a day of shooting and a morning session I can say that we have taken a step forward compared to last year. I immediately felt comfortable in the car, but this is just the beginning of the tests – there is a lot of work ahead, but the start went without a hitch.
We managed to complete the planned programme, although at the start of the session the red flags got in the way. I’m happy with how it went, especially compared to my first day of testing last year. I see how important the experience is in Formula 1 – today I got straight to work. In the evening the conditions are more in line with those in which qualifying will take place, but I am happy with my first day.
