Mick Schumacher: I’m going to prove everyone wrong

Mick Schumacher admitted that it wasn’t easy to carry such a famous name, but at some point, when he started racing seriously, he foresaw this. In 2022, there were changes in his career, which, of course, he wanted to avoid and the consequences of which will manifest themselves for a long time.

Mick was one of the students of the Ferrari Racing Academy, but last year Maranello decided not to continue cooperation with the son of a seven-time world champion, after which a similar decision was made in the Haas F1 team, and as a result, Nico Hulkenberg became Kevin Magnussen’s new partner.

However, Mick has remained in the Formula 1 paddock since becoming a reserve driver for Mercedes, but of course he dreams of getting behind the wheel of a racing car again.

Schumacher Jr. is one of the heroes of the fifth season of the documentary series Drive to Survive, which premiered today, and there he speaks quite candidly about the pressures that his career always brings.

“We understood that there would be difficulties – and it happened,” says Mick in one of the episodes of the new season. “But I think it’s important to use that pressure to make it a source of motivation. I’m doing my best for this – I mean everyone has to prove what they are capable of, right?

Personally, I consider my name to be a kind of blessing. Some may say at the same time that it is a curse, but I have worked and raced hard to earn the right to drive in Formula 1. Of course I’m proud that I don’t stop trying, and I intend to prove to everyone that they are wrong. I know what I’m capable of.”

This weekend Mick is in Bahrain in a new capacity and it looks like he’s not too upset about the sharp turn in his career.

“Everything is going great! I attend all meetings with engineers and at Mercedes these meetings take much longer than at Haas. It’s great because I get a lot of information – he said in an interview with Sky Sports. – All this can come in handy, so of course I feel very comfortable in this team. I was very warmly welcomed here, got access to all the data and I like everything.

What we found during the tests is generally consistent with the results of the work we did on the simulator. However, everyone seems to be having issues with their rear tires these days. The front ones work very efficiently and hold the track well, but the rear ones experience more strain.

It is of course very interesting to see how the Bahrain Grand Prix goes, because on this circuit you can always expect problems with the rear tires.
