Nick de Vries: It’s hard to judge our speed

Nick de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda summarize the results of the second pre-season test in Bahrain. The AlphaTauri riders rounded out the program, but noted that the speed of the new car was questionable.

Nick deVries (4th): “Another positive day, although we were prevented by red flags. The session was paused for a while, but we were able to run the program anyway. We’ve been able to test a lot of things, so we’re happy with today in that regard. When we talk about speed, it’s hard to judge.

Tomorrow we have another day of testing – hopefully we can complete the program and get ready for the race.”

Yuki Tsunoda (17th): “I did more laps this morning than anyone else, so it was a good session. This allowed us to complete the program and catch up – yesterday we did fewer laps than planned.

Today we’re focusing on long ranges and we’ve identified some of the limitations of the car, but at the same time there are also positives because we’ve collected data that we use in the race. Preparation will continue tomorrow.

Overall, I am happy with my pilots and feedback from the team, which is improving all the time. I will continue to work in the same way and look forward to working on a long run of laps tomorrow.”

On Saturday, AlphaTauri tests will be started by Nick de Vries, in the afternoon he will be replaced by Yuki Tsunoda.
