On the final day of testing, Sergio Pérez climbed to the top of Saturday’s protocol with a lap time of 1:30.305, the best result in three days of championship teams at the Bahrain circuit.
Sergio Perez: “The tests were very intensive, because they are very short, so it is extremely important to work on them as efficiently as possible. We were able to handle the tasks set well and got to grips with our new machine.
Testing in Bahrain is not easy, track conditions change every time you leave the pits, the tarmac is very abrasive and conditions are generally unstable. But I think we did our best today – we did a great job analyzing different settings and the work of rubber with different compounds.
We completed a lot of laps without any problems and the reliability of the equipment was at a good level. The team has done a great job at the Milton Keynes base and prepared a good car, although we naturally believe that this work should continue.
What speeds we are capable of will not become clear until next week, as it is difficult to display the image in its entirety in tests.
Gianpiero Lambiase, chief race engineer: “It was another day of work on the track, when there were no issues to hinder us, and the end of testing was very successful. Sergio was able to do a lot of different tests, including getting a feel for what the car was capable of, both in qualifying and race-like conditions, which was important in preparation for the season.
How it will start now depends only on us, and the team still has a few days to analyze all the information collected.
Three days of work on the track were positive, although there is always room for improvement, and in the time left until next weekend we will try to make the car run even more efficiently.
