Steiner: Unlike previous years, there were no problems at all

The Haas F1 team worked very productively on the final day of testing, on Saturday Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen completed a combined 172 laps and the total mileage over three days was 2245.98km – that’s 415 laps.

Kevin Magnussen completed the track work program in Bahrain – the Dane performed a full simulation of the race and also practiced pitstops with the team.

Kevin Magnussen: “Three days of intense work are behind us and today we did a lot of laps – I didn’t leave the cockpit from the beginning to the end of the session. We covered the entire distance of the race in one go, made pit stops, then I got back on track, so I’m pretty happy with Saturday’s results.

You come to the tests with a plan, but you’re willing to adjust it if there are problems, but we didn’t have to. We completed the whole program, and just completed almost a hundred laps today in the afternoon, although we normally expect to do this amount of work in a full day.

Gunter Steiner, team boss: “Great day – we completed 170 laps without any problem. The test program was extensive, we did a full simulation of the race and also drove almost the entire distance of another one.

In general, the tests went very smoothly, compared to previous years there were no problems at all. The team arrived in Bahrain perfectly prepared and we got to work straight away. Progress is clear, so now we need to understand how we look against the general background. So far it’s hard to judge this, but we’re definitely in the mid range – let’s see where we finish, closer to the top lines or towards the end of the pack. In any case, next weekend we will be ready to go to the start of the race.
