Fernando Alonso praised the car’s potential

Fernando Alonso worked out the afternoon session of the final pre-season test day in Bahrain. The Aston Martin driver believes the AMR23 car has great potential, but the team still needs to work to unleash it.

Fernando Alonso «We had a very important and successful week. For testing I was able to work with the car during the shooting day at Silverstone, but eight laps is not enough. Together with the team we worked in Bahrain for three days and now we have to get the car as fast as possible for the first race next week.

We are convinced that we can get much more out of the machine, but that takes time. Just three days of testing is not enough, but the team continues to work with full dedication and we are moving forward step by step.

I don’t know where we are. I haven’t looked at the lap times of the others yet, but all three days the car ran well. We have experimented with different settings and each time we saw positive results, but we still have a few races to run to optimize the car.

We really missed Lance during the tests [Стролла]. I made some comments, but we didn’t know if it was a characteristic of the AMR23 or my subjective feelings from being in a new car and a new team. Lance could help us in such matters.

Feelings of the pedals, steering and so on – I don’t know if this is a feature of the novelty or a feature of all the team’s cars. We can’t appreciate this kind of thing without Lance, so I hope he comes back soon.”
