Frederic Vasseur: The team has the perfect mood

Frederic Vasseur, who took over as head of the Ferrari team less than two months ago, praised the results of pre-season testing and the overall mood in the team, calling it ideal.

“It was three days of intensive work for all members of the team,” he said. “We tested many systems and components of the car, completing most points of our program without paying attention to the results of passing circles or what others are doing. We just focused on our tasks.

The main goal was to do as many laps as possible, and we succeeded, although it must be admitted that you always want to do more and work longer on tests. But here everything is on an equal footing.

When we were able to put everything together, it seemed that the speed was at the right level, although it is clear that the process of studying a new car is ongoing and it is too early to draw any conclusions. But the mood in the team is perfect and we are starting the long season in good shape.

However, if you are going to claim the title, you need to understand that it is always difficult to cope with such a task, and the battle will be sharp. You never expect an easy season for the first race.

All teams strive to improve and succeed, so we intend to fight until the last round, and now it is necessary to pay maximum attention to the modernization of the car. It’s no secret that Ferrari had difficulties in certain situations last year, so the team started reforms at the end of last season.

I think some progress has been made, in particular it has been decided that the changes will affect the pit wall: it is not only that there will be other people now, but also that their numbers will be reduced. Because the decision on strategic issues does not depend only on one specific person, but on many factors, including software, team structure and established information exchange between departments.
