On Saturday, the ninth round of the World Electric Car Championship will be held for the first time in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
This is the largest urban agglomeration in Southeast Asia, more than 34 million inhabitants live here, and in addition, Jakarta is one of the oldest areas in this part of the planet, constantly inhabited by people, as the first settlement here dates back to the fourth century after Christ, although it was called differently at the time.
The new circuit with a lap length of 2.37 km has been constructed near the coast of the Java Sea in the Ancol region, and this is not a typical Formula E city circuit, but a purpose-built stationary circuit suitable for national and international races.
The movement here is organized in a clockwise direction, there is more or less a long straight – the start-finish straight, but there is an interesting and fairly fast sector that starts after the 3rd turn and continues through the 13th, and into in total the ring consists of 18 turns. Turn 11 is profiled, while Turn 16 has a special lane that riders must drive through to activate the attack mode.
“Certainly we face a very unpredictable race,” said Edoardo Mortara, the pilot of Venturi Racing, who has already won two wins this season and is in 2nd place in the individual standings. – I think because of the heat and high humidity it will be extremely difficult for everyone. It is impossible to predict what difficulties we will face.
But the fans will be interested, I hope they will have a lot of fun following the events of the race, which take place in such difficult circumstances. Of course, such races always end up chaotic, so that will be great!
