In Bahrain, the 2023 three-day winter test was completed with the participation of ten teams and 20 riders – 19 main (excluding Lance Stroll, who was injured while cycling) and Aston Martin reserve pilot Felipe Drugovic.
The new cars are much more reliable than last year. Was it possible to drive 16,576 km in three days in Bahrain in 2022, now it is 21,593 km.
However, it is impossible to determine the exact distance – not all laps were full, in the morning during aerodynamic tests or when changing settings, riders often completed short laps – from the exit to the entrance of the pit lane, but we assume that all laps were full, although the actual distance was slightly less.
Best test rounds
In the tests, the drivers were fitted with Pirelli slicks of all five compounds, but mostly they used hard C2 and C3 compounds. The best times were shown on short sets of circles with tires C4 and C5.
