Lando Norris: I am the most patient person

On the second day of testing in Bahrain, McLaren boss Zack Brown acknowledged that the car is currently not competitive enough and that the team is far from its goals. Such statements are not exactly what racers want to hear before the start of the season, but Lando Norris assures that he is ready to show patience and the team will not change.

Lando Norris: “I have a few more years to spend in the team, but this is only because I want to be with McLaren. I signed a multi-year contract with the team, not because I was sure that we would definitely win the title. I understand that we have a long way to go, a lot still to be done, but the team has what it takes to reach its goal.

We have considered all options and it is possible that it will take longer to win the title than my contract foresees, but I do not think this issue is relevant at the moment. I am the most patient person and at the same time I am satisfied with the work done and the plans the team has.

Development in Formula 1 never stops. Now we have such a machine as it is, but we have plans to make it better. In Formula 1, everything depends on how quickly you can come up with something new. New ideas are coming up all the time, and the more we have, the better.”

Lando Norris’ current contract with McLaren runs until the end of 2025.
