Magnussen: If Stroll has a fracture, he will recover quickly

The paddock wonders how long Lance Stroll will be unable to get back behind the wheel after a recent hand injury. The Aston Martin team decided not to share detailed information about the severity of the damage or the expected timing of the Canadian’s return, so Kevin Magnussen gave his version.

There are rumors that Stroll may have a fracture and if true there is a risk he will miss not only the Bahrain Grand Prix but also the Saudi Arabia race.

Kevin Magnussen, a Haas F1 driver, also had to seek medical attention over the winter: in January, the Dane underwent surgery on his left wrist, forcing him to withdraw from his planned participation in the 24 Hours of Daytona.

“After that I had to restore the strength of the arm, because I could not lift weights for a month, but now everything is fine. It was not the main problem, – said Kevin in conversation with the press. – Exactly four weeks after the operation, I got behind the wheel of a racing car again, there were no difficulties.

But I had no fractures, no tendon damage, nothing like that. I just had a cyst removed, so it’s a completely different case. But if Stroll has a broken bone, he will recover very quickly. Better a rupture than a ruptured tendon because they will drive screws into you and you can get back to work.

On Thursday Felipe Drugovic, the team’s reserve driver, drove the Aston Martin car for tests in place of Stroll, on Friday Fernando Alonso will work alone and on Saturday they will share the day again.
