Nico Hülkenberg was the first to drive de Haas during pre-season testing in Bahrain. The German worked out the first day’s morning session, completing 51 laps, then summed up the track work.
Nico Hulkenberg: “It’s great to be behind the wheel again! The past few days have been long, but today I’m glad we’re done with the theory and start practicing.
I did 51 laps, had fun, although we did less work than we wanted to. During the tests, it is important to learn as much as possible about the car, how it reacts to changes in settings – from this point of view, the morning can be considered successful.
There were no problems with the neck – I didn’t get out of the gym for two months, so I prepared and now I’m not the same Niko Hulkenberg I was before. I’m in good shape and happy to be back.
In the remaining days, it is important to gain more experience with the new car, drive more miles, experiment more with the settings – to prepare not only for next week’s weekend, but for the whole season. It is important for the driver to achieve harmony with the car – today the first steps have been taken, but the process itself will never end.
