Ferrari boss Frédéric Vasseur started with a reshuffling of the race team. Iñache Rueda, who served as chief strategist, has been transferred to a permanent job at the Maranello base and will no longer be attending races and influencing the Scuderia’s strategy.
Ravin Jayne, a Briton of Indian descent, who previously held the position of strategist, has been appointed Ferrari’s new chief strategist. Jane was educated at the University of Oxford and holds an MA in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
Last season, the Ferrari strategists’ miscalculations were one of the Scuderia’s most visible problems, costing Charles Leclerc three potential wins – at Monaco, Baku and Silverstone. There were also questions about the team’s decision to release Leclerc on intermediate tires on a dry track during qualifying in Brazil.
In addition to the reshuffle in the strategy department, Ferrari clarified the responsibilities of other employees. Race director Laurent Mekis will focus on the team’s operations, while Frédéric Vasseur will be responsible for driver relations, sponsorship, press and general management.
