PilotAston Martin » Spear Stroll will take part in the first stage of the new Formula 1 season – the Bahrain Grand Prix, reports the team’s press service.
The Canadian rider was injured in a cycling incident and missed pre-season testing in Bahrain at the end of February. Stroll was replaced by Brazilian Felipe Drugovic in the Test squad. The team’s second combat pilot is two-time Spanish world champion Fernando Alonso.
Disappointed to have missed three days of testing. However, given the wrist injury, my team and I decided it was best to focus on recovery in order to be ready for this weekend and the long season ahead.
Injuries? It was an accident – I fell off my bike, slammed the tire into the pit. Fortunately, the damage was not serious and a successful minor operation on the right wrist solved the problem very quickly. Since then, I’ve worked hard with the team to make sure I’m fully prepared for the show.
I would like to thank the Formula 1 community for their support, as well as the team that helped me. Now I’m ready to focus on racing this weekend – which I’m really looking forward to – said Stroll, 24.
The start stage of the 2023 season will take place from March 3 to 5 on the Sakhir track.
