The European Court cleared the former Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin participate in Formula 1 and other racing series, according to the court’s website.
It should be noted that Mazepin has the right to enter the EU to negotiate and conclude agreements with a racing team or with sponsors not associated with his father Dmitry Mazepin, “as a main or reserve driver of Formula 1 or other series organized under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA)”, to participate in races, sponsorships and promotions at the request of its racing team or its sponsors, as well as to participate in championships, Grands Prix, races, training, tests in EU member states.
If Mazepin is hired as a Formula 1 driver or in other motorsport championships organized only in the EU or outside it, Mazepin must commit to driving under a neutral flag and sign the required document by the FIA.
In March last year, Mazepin was subject to European sanctions.
Mazepin was the Haas team driver in the 2021 season and finished 21st in the final standings. In March 2022, it was announced that the team was ending its cooperation with the Russian. This season, he is taking part in the Asian Le Mans Series.
