Sergio Perez thinks it is premature to talk about Red Bull Racing’s overwhelming lead. Before the first race of the season in Bahrain, the Mexican predicted a fierce battle in the group leaders and promised to fight for the title.
Sergio Perez: “We believe the battle will be very exciting. After the tests, it is very difficult to draw conclusions – the more you follow other teams trying to understand their capabilities, the more confused you become. You have to show patience. On Friday we already have ideas and on Saturday and Sunday, when everyone shows their true pace, we can say how good or bad we are.
The team has certainly succeeded in improving the car and now it behaves more stable entering the corner. This makes me feel more confident behind the wheel. On the other hand, we only tested the car in Bahrain on a track with unique asphalt and other characteristics. But at least we have a good basis.
This season I want to fight for the title. We are all starting from scratch – we now have equal opportunities. I want to be competitive and show that on the track.”
