Max Verstappen: “I’m relaxed, but this has nothing to do with the speed of our car. I think it’s important to always stay relaxed. I slept well in the winter, spent time with family and friends, didn’t think about Formula 1 for a while, stayed home and now I’m ready to race again.
We have successfully completed three days of testing and assessed progress over the winter, but of course we have to wait for the results this weekend. As the season progresses it is important to constantly fine-tune the car, whose on-track behavior still needs to be improved, but we feel that testing has gone well.
The new car is better than last year in every way, but the team has set such a target because we always try to add something. The car drives well, it has a good balance. Due to changes in the regulations, every team has reduced the efficiency of the bottom of the car, but we have tried to recoup those losses. We still have to work a little bit on the new balance, but overall everything is fine.
When asked who he sees as rivals for Red Bull Racing in 2023, Max said: “Those teams closest to us. Besides, I’ll be my own rival. It’s important to keep doing our best because we can’t afford to make a lot of mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, but it’s important to try to minimize the number of mistakes.”
