Oscar Piastri: I still make mistakes

During practice in Bahrain, the McLaren team did not surprise with the speed, but both drivers claim to have made some progress and are more or less optimistic.

Lando Norris (9th): “I think Friday went relatively well. We were able to set up the car more or less normally and I was already more comfortable behind the wheel, both on a fast lap and on long runs with a high fuel load.

To be really competitive we have to put in a pretty big gap, only then can we compete with the guys who want to fight on track. In the evening we continue working with a view to tomorrow’s qualification.

Oscar Pistri (15th): “Behind my first official training. I feel like I’m making progress and that’s good. I need to keep improving, but I feel like I’m on the right track.

I’m still making mistakes, so I’m not 100% happy with my pilots, but I think we’re showing a good pace. Where we stand will not be revealed until tomorrow, but so far things are going well and my first Friday in Formula 1 has been a pleasure.”

Andrew Stella, team leader: “The first day of the season was productive. The machines worked fine, there were no problems and we went through the entire program. Today we were looking to fine-tune and study tire behavior and the evening session was particularly important in this regard.

Now, in preparation for qualifying and the race, we have to analyze a lot of information and hope to score points on Sunday.
