Dan Fallows: Aston Martin is a big step forward

Fernando Alonso led the minutes of the second and third sessions of the Bahrain Grand Prix and many expect the Spaniard to become the main rival of the Red Bull Racing drivers in qualifying. Aston Martin technical director Dan Fallows is cautious in his predictions, but admits the AMR23 car has great potential.

“The new car is an evolution of last year’s, but kind of an aggressive evolution,” Racingnews365 quoted Dan Fallows as saying. “There are reasonable limits in the regulations, but we were able to make significant improvements in many areas compared to last year’s car. Not only in aerodynamics, but also in the mechanical part.

I don’t know where we are now, but we definitely made a big step forward from last year. This was actually our main goal.

Regardless of what our level of competitiveness turns out to be, it’s gratifying that we’ve got a platform in our car that’s good enough for further development.”
