Alex Albon: We would have earned more

Williams is upset with the results of qualifying – Alex Albon went into the second session but problems with the car prevented him from putting in a single lap…

Alex Albon (15th): “During qualifying my front wing got damaged, I lost one of its elements and couldn’t do a single lap in the second session. I’m disappointed, given the ninth result in the first part of qualifying, I was hoping to make it to the final. We earned more.

However, if we compare our results from last year with the speed we showed today, we can say that we are the second team after Aston Martin to make really serious progress.

I am proud of all our employees at the base and on the track, we are moving in the right direction. The car literally comes to life as the tarmac cools, we need to be more competitive in the long distance than in qualifying, so we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”

Logan Sargent (16th): “Qualifying for the first time in Formula 1 and getting to the start of the race is my dream come true. Today we had a good pace, the team was supposed to reach the second part of qualifying with two cars, but in my case everything was spoiled by a small mistake – I couldn’t find the optimal braking point when the wind changed direction in the first turn.

Nevertheless, we have laid a good foundation for further development. Tonight the car was fine, I was pleased with its balance – it was only necessary to pass the attempt neatly.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow and looking forward to how I feel when the start traffic lights go out. I will try to start well, get a clean first lap and then move on.”
