Lewis Hamilton: As long as our business doesn’t go well

According to the results of the training in Melbourne, the Mercedes racers were outside the top ten and do not hide that they are dissatisfied with their cars. The problem is that it is not yet clear how to resolve the situation.

Lewis Hamilton (13th): “The mood is normal, although the session was tough. Whatever we do with the machine, nothing changes in its behavior – the difficulties are linked precisely to this. We start with an optimistic attitude, we try to make improvements, but it seems that nothing is coming out of this.

For the second session we made some adjustments to the settings, after which it turned out that the machine worked better during the first session. Why – I don’t know, but W13 has a very difficult character. However, the situation is what it is, it is what it is, and there’s little we can do about it.

We’re trying to push to close the gap with the leaders, but even if we manage to get a normal lap, it turns out we’re losing about 1.2 seconds to the best – it’s frustrating. In general, while our business is not doing well.

George Russell (11th): “Certainly, we will have a lot of work this weekend. While we’re not in the positions we want, there are a lot of mid-team cars ahead of us, and obviously we’re losing quite a lot to the leaders. Now we need to figure out what exactly is holding us back.

At the same time, the feeling of driving is not bad, although somewhat strange. For example, when I was working with soft tires, the car went faster with each lap. I know other riders have said the same thing, but in my case it manifested itself more clearly.

The build-up of the car at high speeds has a lot of influence. Worst of all is in the 9th turn. I think we’ll have to live with it for now, because we think you can get around the circle as quickly as possible with such settings.

However, we may be wrong. We have to keep analyzing the collected information and trying to figure everything out.”
