The Williams started the 2023 season strongly, with Alex Albon earning a point in tenth and teammate Logan Sargent finishing twelfth, the best of the debutants.
Alex Albon (10th): “Due to the difficult qualifying we didn’t take the positions we expected, but I had a good start and gained a few positions back, then struggled during the race. The car was fast, I was able to compete and the race pace was above expectations.
The race was difficult, we had to spend a lot of time monitoring tire wear, but we managed. Maybe the speed of the car doesn’t match the average group, but we’re close and the point earned in the first race is an excellent result. I’m very happy and proud of the team – everyone at Williams has done a great job.”
Logan Sargent (12th): “I loved every second of the debut race. The first start was special. I’m proud of the team and I think we performed even better than expected after testing. Congratulations to Alex and everyone at Williams on their first point of the season.
As for me, everything in the race went smoothly – start, pit stops, virtual safety car mode. I hope we take today’s performance as a baseline and continue to improve as the year progresses.”
