Horner: Rivals will return to the fray in the next few races

Max Verstappen dominated in Bahrain. His team-mate Sergio Perez built on Red Bull Racing’s success by finishing second. The head of the championship team, Christian Horner, is pleased with the results of the first weekend of the season, but he has no doubt that the rivals will return in the following races and the battle will intensify.

Christian Horner: “A season of 23 races is a marathon in which it is important to show consistent results.

We had a great start to the season in Bahrain. Sergio, who started from the dirt side of the track, let Charles Leclerc take the lead, who benefited from the new Soft kit. But then, thanks to strategy and speed, Sergio was able to overtake him and the task was reduced to reaching the finish line. However, we have no doubt that the rivals will return to the fray in the following races.

I’ve been in Formula 1 for too long, so I know how quickly the balance of power can change. These cars are still relatively new, so as the teams upgrade them, the situation in the races will change.”

Christian Horner commented on Fernando Alonso’s third place: “Aston Martin had a very strong race. It was nice to watch Fernando give hope to all 40 year olds. He had a great race, he’s still competitive and Aston Martin has a fast car.

Based on the results of the first race, we can say that Aston Martin is the second strongest team.”
