Red Bull Motorsport adviser Helmut Marko commented on Aston Martin’s speed in Bahrain. In the broadcast of the German TV channel Sky, the Austrian attributed the success of the team from Silverstone to the fact that they had lured former Red Bull Racing employees to their place.
“If we compare the cars, Aston Martin is very similar to ours,” Marco shared his view. “And there are reasons for that. The resemblance is not only related to the fact that Dan Fallows moved to them. Other ex-Red Bull employees also work for Aston Martin and of course have good memories of that.”
Already after the finish of the Bahrain Grand Prix on the Austrian Servus TV broadcast, Marco suggested that Fernando Alonso could compete with the Red Bull Racing drivers if he had had a better start: “I think Alonso could have been much stronger perform if he had not rolled back during take-off. But we saw a fantastic fight between him and Lewis Hamilton. It was an old fashioned fight, hard but fair. This, of course, made Alonso lose time and his tires – efficiency.
If Fernando had been right behind us the whole race, he would have put us in a more serious battle. I don’t know how Aston Martin is handling the modernization of the car, but at least Alonso can’t worry about age. He’s at his best.”
Reviewing Red Bull Racing’s form, Marco added: “We have a very fast car thanks to last year’s evolutionary development. And both of our riders have gotten stronger. Sergio was less sweaty than usual after the finish, but he didn’t have much resistance.
Both our riders worked tirelessly without losing speed. We have excellent opportunities, also thanks to the excellent Honda engine.”
