The Red Bull Racing team started the season with a double victory and Max Verstappen climbed to the first step of the podium in Bahrain for the first time.
Max Verstappen (1st): “The first part of the race was very good, I managed to make a good gap and after that it was only necessary to monitor the wear of the rubber. After all, you never know how it will develop in the later stages of the race, so we had to make sure our tires were in good condition.
I am very happy that I finally managed to win in Bahrain!
There were no special issues this weekend, just a few minor things, but we wanted to achieve better settings even in minor things. It wasn’t hard to figure this out.
In the next stage in Jeddah we will have a very different circuit in terms of characteristics, but I think we have a great car. Of course things will change from race to race, but with the RB19 you can definitely fight for wins. Of course I am again very grateful to the team for everything they did last winter so that we have such a fast car again.
Sergio Perez (2nd): “Great start to the season! Suffice it to recall how the season started for us in Bahrain last year, but now everything has become great. We’ve worked hard all winter and now it’s great to see all our guys enjoying the results of the first race because we have a really fast car.
The start today wasn’t the best, because of this I couldn’t fight for the win, so the task was to minimize the losses, so second place is the maximum I could get today. But the season is long and I feel like I’m catching up with my partner at every session.’
